Good afternoon from Crown Point High School.  This is Mr. Pettit calling with some beginning of the week information.

In Guidance Office news…

Summer School – Summer school will be offered from June 12 – July 21st.  A brochure outlining summer school courses is attached to the email that accompanies this voice recording.  Registration for summer courses opens on April 10th

FAFSA - The state of Indiana has granted an extension to their original FAFSA filing deadline..  Seniors now have until April 15th to complete financial aid forms at

AP Exams – Advanced Placement exam registration is open in RDS Parent Access, but will close at the end of the day tomorrow (March 21st).  All students taking AP courses in math, science, English, and computer science have already been registered for AP exams due to the fee being paid for by the Indiana Department of Education.  All other exams are $93.00.  A $15.00 deposit is due at registration.  Final payment is due by April 14th.  AP exams will be administered during the first two weeks of May.  Registration instructions are attached to the email that accompanies this voice recording. 

AP Exam Scholarships – The Crown Point Community Foundation will offset AP exam costs through a scholarship opportunity for interested students.  Students must submit a grant application electronically via Google Form or submit a printed copy to the 11-12 office by Thursday, March 23rd to be considered for a scholarship.  Students awarded a scholarship will only be required to pay the $15 deposit that is due when registering for the exam.  Grants are awarded based on financial need, number of total AP exams taken by the student, and narrative responses submitted on the grant application.  Links to the application are included on the email that accompanies this voice recording.

If submitting a printed copy, make sure to include:

·         Full name, grade level, and list of AP courses enrolled in during 2016-2017 school year

·         List all AP exams you plan to take in May 2017

·         Describe your financial need and the impact if awarded an AP exam scholarship

·         Describe your level of confidence in scoring 3+ on the AP exam in the subject that you would like to be considered for an AP exam scholarship


Prom – The junior class will host the prom on Saturday, April 22nd.  Tickets are $70.00 for singles or $140.00 for couples.  Tickets are available for purchase online at the school website through April 7th (12 noon) or until all tickets have been sold.
