Accelerated Reading is a reading enhancement program. Students at Winfield are checking out and reading more books. Students are given a STAR test which is a diagnostic reading assessment tool. This establishes an individual reading range that helps the child choose a book that can be successfully read. After the student reads the book, he/she goes to the computer and takes a reading test on that book. There can be from five to twenty questions on a test. At the end of the test, students get a report to show teachers. It is a very useful measure of reading and comprehension progress. This file will show you the Accelerated Reader tests that we have at Winfield. Check those books at home. You may have a great book that your child could read and test on this week.
