Crown Point High School
Counseling Support and P.B.I.S
Crown Point High School has adopted a program called Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). We are using this program to help all our students have a safe, positive learning environment and to provide consistency in all areas of our school. Involvement in this program helps promote social, emotional, and academic success. At Crown Point High School we are committed to effectively educating all students and adopting and using research based interventions that support student achievement.
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
PBIS is a proactive systems approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture that is needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. The goal is to help improve student academic and behavioral outcomes and ensure that all students have access to the most effective and accurately implemented instructional and behavioral practices and interventions possible. The program provides positive interventions at the earliest stage so that the student can experience academic and social growth at all levels.
Once a student has been identified that they are struggling in some sort of way, they can be referred to the program by an administrator, guidance counselor, or teacher. The PBIS Supervisor will meet with the student to determine what types of interventions are needed and will utilize a variety of academic, behavioral, social, and emotional interventions to help the student stay engaged and focused at school.
