Scheduled Distance Learning Days - What to Expect

On Wednesday, November 3, 2021 and Tuesday, March 8, 2022, all CPCSC students will participate in a scheduled distance learning day. Teachers and staff will be participating in professional development and planning throughout the day to grow and develop professionally in instruction, student support, and safety. Here's what parents and students can expect for these days.

  1. To be prepared for the distance learning day, students (K-12) are expected to take their laptop device with charger home the day before.

  2. Teachers will post agenda in Buzz for students:

    • Secondary teachers will post the day’s BUZZ activities by 7:30 a.m.

    • Elementary teachers will post the day’s BUZZ activities by 9:00 a.m.

  3. Students are expected to complete assigned work by the posted due date on the distance learning day.

  4. The distance learning day will be asynchronous. Activities will be assigned to review or practice previously taught content, continue work and development of on-going projects or assignments, or introduce new content with supporting activities that are achievable by the student independently.

    • Elementary teachers will be available to support students and respond to student questions/needs from 9:00-9:30 a.m. and 1:00-1:30 p.m.

    • Secondary teachers will use email or other digital communication to respond to student questions or needs.

    • ‘Live’ or ‘synchronous’ instruction/support is not offered outside of the times listed above.

  5. For additional student support, interventionists and paraprofessionals may monitor, interact, or provide feedback.

  6. On distance learning days the student is counted absent if there is no evidence by the start of the next school day of the following: course progress, communication with  teacher(s), interventionists and/or paraprofessionals, participation on assigned instruction, system activity and login times, and/or completion of daily work and/or long-term projects.
