Crown Point’s Bulldog Park has received an upgrade through a collaborative project between the City of Crown Point and the Crown Point Community School Corporation (CPCSC). The two organizations teamed up to build a new concession stand and locker room facility, enhancing the park while benefiting both the school and the larger community.
As part of the project, the city waived approximately $1.25 million in permit fees for CPCSC while they completed capital projects at every school campus. The school district then invested that amount into the shared facility. This partnership reflects a joint commitment to using public funds responsibly and providing valuable services to residents, students, and visitors without duplicating efforts or increasing costs.
"Being that we are both taxing entities, we often find ourselves just exchanging tax dollars," said CPCSC Superintendent Dr. Todd Terrill. "This project is a perfect example of how we can work together to create something that truly benefits our community and delivers meaningful services."
The two-story building, located between Bulldog Park and Col. John Wheeler Middle School’s track, includes a concession stand, restrooms, and storage on the first floor for school events. The second floor, connected to Bulldog Park by a walkway, offers private locker rooms, showers, and restrooms for athletes—an upgrade from the previous use of community rooms as locker spaces for visiting teams.
Crown Point Mayor Pete Land highlighted the value of the partnership: "We are excited to see the completion of the new concession stand and locker room facility near Bulldog Park. This project has been years in the making, and we're excited for the community to enjoy the new space. Thank you to Dr. Terrill and his team for their fantastic partnership on this project."
