If you have any thoughts about pursuing a career in the TV and Radio industries or simply wish to learn more about video and radio production, this course is a good place for you to start. It's a course that's also well-suited for students who are considering work in the film industry or simply hope to move on to work on CPHS's award winning TV news broadcast CPTV.
Intro to TV & Radio Broadcast is a course which focuses on communication, media and production. Emphasis is placed on career opportunities, production, programming, promotion, performance, and equipment operation. Students will also study the history of communication systems as well as communication ethics and law. Students will develop oral and written communication skills, acquire software and equipment operation abilities, and integrate teamwork skills. Instructional strategies will include a hands-on school-based enterprise, real and/or simulated occupational experiences, job shadowing, field trips, and internships. Numerous students from Crown Point High School's CPTV program have gone on to study at colleges and universities with establish broadcast journalism programs and TV and/or radio internships.
