My name is Kevin McBride and I am pleased to welcome you and your family to our class! I am excited to be teaching second grade again.
I am proud to call Crown Point my hometown. As a former student of Crown Point Community Schools, I now teach with some of my most inspirational teachers. I hope to share similar experiences with your children this year.
After graduating from Crown Point High School, I attended Ball State University to receive my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. At Ball State, I took part in several immersive learning projects, including working at an orphanage in Malawi, Africa. I still continue to work with and support the children at Mtendere Village.
After school, I can be found directing the high school marching band, or putting on productions with the high school theatre department. I also enjoy mountain biking, golfing, playing tennis, reading, and playing music in my free time. I live in Crown Point with my wife who teaches kindergarten at Solon.
As a father to twins, Nora and Matthew, I undertsand the immense responsibility I have to nurture your children. Each student in our classroom should feel values and have their feelings validated. I recognize that facing struggles is an important part of growth and am here to help your child grown academically and socially.
In an effort to make learning more effective and more efficient, I have become an advocate for education technology. I find myself continually improving my teaching practices to prepare students with ever-changing technology. I often lead professional development sessions in Crown Point and speaking at teaching conferences whenever possible.
I believe in a strong learning community in the classroom, where students work to gain the knowledge, integrity, and critical thinking skills needed in all aspects of our lives. This community, united with the families at home, will make this year a great success. I am looking forward to sharing many great educational experiences this year.
