    Art Schedule:
    All students grades 1-5 attend art classes once a week. On painting days students will want to have an old paint shirt to use for painting or dress appropriately.
    Art Curriculum:
    The art curriculum is based on the Indiana State Standards as well as stated in the Crown Point Community School Corporation Art Curriculum.
    Goals Students will:
    Value and understand the creative experience.

    Be lifelong appreciators and creators of art.

    Understand how knowledge of art helps them in daily living.

    Have personal experiences with art.

    Have art as a base for discussion.

    Be able to use imagination, solve problems and be confident.

    Show respect for others’ art.

    Be open minded about all kinds of art.

    Be a risk taker.

    Communicate through art.

    Communicate about art.

    Be confident in artistic ability.

    Critique art and appreciate art.

    Become creative problem solvers.

    Develop art skills.

    Value art.


    Since art classes only meet once weekly, it is important to stress attendance. Grades are based on the in class projects. Students who miss an art class will need to make up the work.Students will be given a due date of when to turn in make-up work. Failure to turn in make-up work will receive a 0.



    Classroom Rules:

    • Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself.
    • Listen to directions the first time they are given.
    • No drawing of weapons or violence.
    • Clean up after yourself.
    • No gum or candy allowed.
    • Stay in your assigned seat unless you have permission to do otherwise.
    • Always be respectful of each other and their artwork.
    • Always do your best!

    The art room is in need of items throughout the year as noted above. 

    Art also recycles many household items such as the following:


    scraps of material, collections of broken beads, buttons, shells,


    sewing notions, ribbon, sequins, margarine tubs,old flower


    arrangements, baby jars,  and yarn.

     If you have any of these and want to find them a good home, I will provide that home!!! Also old t-shirts or button down shirts make great smocks.


    In the spring, 2019, we will again be doing our Square 1 Art Fundraiser in time before Mother's Day!More information to come! Very Special!! Kids design an original piece of art to be bought on cups, t-shirts, puzzles, etc. All money goes back to the arts!
