COURSE DESCRIPTION

Dual Credit Ivy Tech – Promotion Management – MKTG 101

The Business Department at CPHS recommends this second-level course for all students interested in pursuing marketing as a college major and career. Sports, Recreation, and Entertainment Marketing is a specialized marketing course providing students with a thorough understanding of marketing concepts and theories that apply to sports, recreation, and entertainment. The areas this course will cover include basic marketing, target marketing and segmentation, sponsorship, event marketing, promotions, sponsorship proposals, and sports marketing plans. This course also delves into the components of promotion plans, sponsorship proposals and the key elements needed in sports marketing plans. The class may research and work with the private sector and community to help market recreation and entertainment programs. Instructional strategies include computer applications, event planning, real and/or simulated occupational experiences, and projects in the marketing functions. Students opting for the dual credit option must apply to Ivy Tech and the tuition is free. Student grades will be reflected on both the CPHS transcript and Ivy Tech transcript.
