COURSE DESCRIPTION
This semester course increases students’ awareness and development of language arts skills required of students to achieve success in post-secondary experiences, whether in the world of higher education (technical training or junior college) or in the world of work. Through the integrated study of language, literature, and composition English 12A continues to develop all skills as outlined in English 9 through 11. With the emphasis on the needs and future plans of the students, English 12A sharpens critical reading and interpretative skills with a survey of both historical and modern literature. Along with the study of literature, students will focus on listening, writing, and speaking skills that promote effective communication in the workplace. Computer literacy and logical thinking are emphasized as well as multi-cultural and social awareness. This is a basic level language arts course.
