COURSE DESCRIPTION

Secondary Physical Education continues the emphasis on health-related fitness, and developing the skills necessary for lifetime of activity. The program includes skill development and application of rules and strategies of complex difficulty in different movement forms. This includes health-related fitness activities (cardio respiratory endurance, muscular, strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition) aerobic exercise, team sports, individual and dual sports, outdoor pursuits, aquatics, dance, and recreational games. Ongoing assessment will include written and health related evaluations. Classes are co-educational unless the activity involves body contact; grouping is based on a standard of individual performance developed and applied without regard to sex.
