Welcome Letter to Parents for 2012-2013 Dear Solon Parents, I hope this letter finds you all well and enjoying the last few days of summer. My family and I had a wonderful, relaxing vacation. We were able to escape to Eastern Kentucky for a week of hiking, canoeing, and fishing through the Red River Gorge. Our wonderful custodians worked extremely hard to get the school looking incredible! Our beehive will be ready to welcome everyone on Thursday, August, 23rd. I know our staff is looking forward to the halls being filled with children once again. We are ready to open our hearts to do the important job of educating your children. As educators, the staff of Solon Robinson Elementary School recognizes the awesome responsibility we have to frame your child’s school experiences. We realize the powerful impact we have on the lives of children both academically and emotionally. “If the family were a boat it would be a canoe that makes no progress unless everyone paddles.” Letty Cottin Progrobin Please jump into the canoe with us! As adults most of us can recall a favorite teacher or memorable school experience from our elementary grades. In partnership with you, we aim to create a memorable, positive, and productive school environment for every single child. One that will provide a solid foundation both academically and socially. One that places a priority on addressing the unique developmental needs of young children. Based on the philosophy that childhood is a journey, not a race, differentiated instruction as well as an abundance of related services provide for the individual needs of each student. Each child’s unique learning style is embraced and supported to achieve his or her full potential throughout their years at Solon. Our highly competent, professional staff offer the finest academic instruction augmented by current technologies. We recognize that our greatest asset is our student body. Our hope is that your children will develop and maintain confidence in themselves as learners and valued participants in this community. We anticipate that they will grow to be happy and productive citizens who are able to work with others and look beyond themselves. Most of all, we are optimistic that we can accomplish this by continuing to establish an environment for learning that promotes cooperation, caring and communication. When the 2012-2013 school year begins, there will be 20 classes and approximately 470 students at Solon Robinson Elementary School. Our faculty roster remains very strong and consistent.
